This
is what Dagmar says about this workshop:
This one day
workshop offers participants the opportunity to explore some of the key
principles that are central to working with trauma, and to review how these
inform good practice. Participants will be invited to explore and discuss some
of the complex processes involved in trauma work, and the impact that these
processes can have on the development of the therapeutic relationship. The
belief that the individual is ‘the expert’ on how the traumatic incident impacts
their life and day-to-day functioning is central to a person centred
perspective.
Key themes on the
course are likely to include:
·
Understanding Trauma
·
Developing a therapeutic relationship
·
Trauma
assessment
·
Physiology and trauma
·
Phenomenological exploration of relevant skills
·
Self
care and the impact of working with trauma on the counsellor
This one day
introductory workshop is suitable for Person Centred counsellors and
psychotherapists, as well as for practising clinicians who work with, or are
interested in, the implications of trauma in relation to the development of the
therapeutic relationship. Training hours accrued may be counted towards
continuing professional development requirements of professional bodies.
